Languedoc is plenty of surprises – Located in the South of France, it gets so much to offer between wine, food and landscapes. The Languedoc appellation represents the premium wines from the world’s largest vineyard. This region that tends to be forgotten by the past, is rising more and more, due to great potential, vision and top value for money.
Much diversity is offered there by the wide option of varieties, such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault and many more, such as Muscat, Roussanne, Marsanne, Piquepoul… Also the wine types, from red, white, rosé but also sparkling and fortified – it is a gold mine for wine lovers.
Developing at a steady pace it is today the largest organic wine region in France with over 1301 certified organic wine estates.
The range is divided between the Crus du Languedoc, Grand Vins du Languedoc and the AOP wines all over many different soil types.
Enough introduction… here is a throwback of the week I spent there last month, hunting for great wines, discovering, new vineyards, meeting great wine producers and enjoying amazing food.
I also tasted a lot, oh man, a lot of wine… over 1200 different wines were sampled with journalists from all over the world. What I can say is that in Languedoc you can find wine to suit any moment, any occasion of the day, any meal… anything
I made a selection of the BEST LANGUEDOC WHITE WINES per appellation including some ROUSSILLON as they were invited to bring some wines:
Domaine Stella Nova – Les Pléiades 2015
Domaine Turner Pageot – Le Blanc 2016
Domaine Le Conte des Floris – Lune Blanche 2014
Mas Coris – Pic de Vissou 2015
Mas de la Séranne – Les Ombelles 2015
Picpoul de Pinet
Mas Saint Laurent – Le Ginestet 2015
Les Domaines De Petit Roubié – Château Petit Roubié 2016
Le Clos de Paulilles – Cap Bear 2015
Plenty of amazing wines there and plenty to discover 🙂 Enjoy
